Kaikoura Earthquake

What happened? Where did it happen? (100 words)

A very big earthquake that was the size of 7.5 has hit Christchurch, near Hanmer Springs. The earthquake was 16 km deep and it had hit at 12.02 am. It then was followed with more than a dozen of aftershocks across the country. A warning has been issued to a number of areas around New Zealand that a Tsunami might be hitting to those areas. This also includes all of the East Coast in New Zealand. It has been said and heard by people that a 2m Tsunami has hit Kaikoura. An unknown amount of people have been injured.

How did it happen? (50 words)

The reason this had happened was because our world is not just one piece of land it is mixed up with 20 pieces of puzzles (kind of). They move a lot but we cannot feel it because it moves very slowly. But when 2 of these puzzles/ another word for it is Titonic plates bump into each other it makes an earthquake. Sometimes it is so small that we might not be able to feel it, and sometimes it is so strong that it can be felt over 1000 miles away.

Who was affected? (75 words)

It is said that at least 2 people have died during this earthquake due to buildings collapsing on them. An unknown amount of people have been injured and have been rushed to hospital. Families were really affected from this quake because they have lost their houses and some of their relatives. The wildlife/animals have been affected from this quake because half of the largest territory at Kowhai River appears to have been wiped out.
