WAL how much sugar is in different drinks

Today for inquiry and maths Room 7 done some measuring. Miss Ashley had found some empty bottles/cans and we measured (with a scale) how much sugar is in it by reading the nutritional information on the back. The drink that had the most amount of sugar was the Fresh Up juice with 98.0g of sugar and the least being Fuze tea with 22g of sugar. I was surprised to see that V has 26.5g of sugar in it and the Feijoa fruit drink has 96g of sugar in it. Coca Cola had 27g of sugar which was 0.5g more than the V drink. Here are some photos and the list of drinks we had.
Fuze Tea - 22g
V- 26.5g
Water- 0g
Feijoa Drink- 96g
Fresh Up - 98.0g
E2- 75g
Coca Cola- 27g

My favourite out of these drinks is Coca Cola.

I really enjoyed weighing how much sugar is in drinks and learnt a lot by doing this.

WALT: read nutritional information

Today Room 7 was learning how to read nutrition labels. I learnt about the %DI (Percentage of daily intake) and the Heart foundation. We read some articles and Miss Ashley bought in some food. We read the back of the packages and picked one to write about. The food i chose was chopsuey. Chopsuey has 753 kJ of energy, 0g of protein. I think this is not very healthy because our muscles need protein.

Our food pyramid

This afternoon we did some inquiry. We first made a K W L chart of what we wanted to do about our inquiry topic. Our inquiry topic this term is Fuelled for life - Food, Fitness, Feel good.  I learnt that instead of thinking about the taste in the food you gotta think about what is good for you. The picture below is a food pyramid. The bottom section is what food we should mostly eat, the middle one is some of, and the top section is little bit. Here is the one me and my group made.

I really like the food on the top but I know it is bad for me. I now know about the food pyramid and loved the making process.

Samoan Language

This term room 7 has been learning about the Samoan culture. I found some words easy because the Samoan culture is quite similar to the Tongan one. Here is a DLO I made of words in Samoan. Enjoy!
