Malo E Lelei and welcome to my blog! This week I have been reading a text called Kuri, written by Priscilla Wehi.

An example of this is, Kuri dogs started to disappear more and more because when Pakeha arrived, they didn't like dogs attacking the Sheep so the dogs were often shot and eaten. Not everyone knows why these dogs disappeared and became exist, but scientists now study the bones that they have recently found.

Another key idea from this text is Resources and Reusing. When Kuri dogs were killed they were either eaten or used for many things that would help locals survive. An example of this is, when Kuri dogs arrived, many chiefs kept them as pets but most people killed the Kuri to use their skin as clothes or blankets and their bodies as meat.

This cloak belongs to Te Urewera hapū. The hair of the cloak came from Kuri dogs of an important chief. This cloak has been passed down generations and was worn on special occasions such as the Signing of the Treaty.

I think that scientists studying the bones of Kuri, it will help the Maori society today learn more about the past.
Question of the blog: Have you ever heard of the Kuri Dog?

Thank you for reading this blog! Make sure to give me some POSITIVE feedback and feedforward! Bye :)
