🚯Turning Old Into New - Analysing!🚯
WALT: Use ANALYSING Skills to identify the key ideas in a text.
Kia Ora and welcome to my blog! This week for reading, the Kia Manawanui syndicate have been reading a text called Turning Old Into New! Today I am going to be presenting with you all my reflective tasks.
After reading this text I discovered 2 new words and their meanings. These two words are Renewable and Non-renewable. In my own words, I would say that Renewable means Something that is able to be renewed or regrown and reused. For example, a tree is renewable because it can regrow naturally if you cut it down to use.

Non-renewable is something that cannot be regrown or recreated naturally. For example, the oil that is created from the Earth's crust is non-renewable because there is a certain limit of time that the oil can last.

Renewable
Non-Renewable
Definition
Something that is able to be renewed and reused.
Is something that cannot be regrown or recreated naturally.
Examples
You can cut down a tree and it is renewable because it can regrow.
The oil in the crust of the Earth is not renewable because there is a limited time that it can exist.

After reading this text, I think the author wants us to think about how we can recycle things and reuse things such as (plastic cups, rubbish and things that we recycle). I think this because the text is telling us about how people use plastic bottles to make jackets, how people recycle different materials etc. I think if we do this it can help prevent pollution and landfills.

REFLECTIVE TASKS
Turning old into new means using old things and creating something new out of it. For example in England there is a company that collects old Bubblegum and creates Sneakers, Mobile Cases and other stuff too. What they're doing here is using an old piece of Bubblegum and creating a brand new pair of Sneakers!

When we put rubbish in the RED BIN this rubbish is taken to a facility and then the people at that facility put that rubbish in a landfill. A landfill is a pit where waste rubbish is buried. When we put stuff into the BLUE BIN which is the recycle bin is taken to a company where they reuse these things. An example of this is, companies use bottles that we recycle to make jackets. That is really cool so the more bottles we recycle, the more jackets can be made!

In our clothes we have tiny fibres called Microfibers. When our clothes get washed these microfibers travel with the water into the ocean and poison our underwater sea life. One piece of technology that was created to avoid this from happening is a filter. A filter is the little circle that is in the middle of your washing machine, this collects all the microfibers. Other filters can be outside of the washing machine and in other places too.

Question of the blog: Do you know what happens to our rubbish when we recycle? What do you think can happen if our world can possibly be filled with pollution?

Thank you for reading this blog! Make sure to give me some POSITIVE feedback for my future! Bye :)
