😄Maths Lesson Today!😄

😄Maths Lesson Today!😄
Kia Ora and welcome to my blog! Today in the last block we had Maths with Ms Komor! Like yesterday we played some Maths game today! I played with the people at my table which were Toma, Patience and Demetrious!

Everyone had different activities, there were Multiplication activities, Division activities, Halves and doubles activities and many more! The Maths activity we played was Decimal Cards! The way this game worked was we all had a set of cards that said, "I have ________" "Who has _______" So for example if I said, "Who has 1/4 of 24?" and Toma had it he would say, "I have 6, who has _____" so on and so on!

At first we did not get the game and we just wanted to do a Multiplication game but we didn't give up so we asked Sam for some help! Sam said he would look at the cards while we play a different game but then he changed his mind and offered us some help! Sam showed us different ways of how to change a Fraction into a Decimal and how to change a Decimal into a Fraction! His help was really helpful and by the end of this lesson me and Toma learned how to change a Fraction into a Decimal and a Decimal into a Fraction!

Not only did we learn about that we also learned how to find a Decimal of a whole number! For example 'What is 0.1 of 400?' The answer is 40. The way we got this was by figuring out how many 1's could fit into 10 which equals 10 and after that we had to divide. We went 400 divided by 10 = 40 which is how we got the answer!

We went through some questions and me and Toma really enjoyed doing it! We enjoyed getting to not only take responsibility for our learning by asking Sam for help but by being able to give it a try instead of just give up!

  2. What a great idea to have photos of the people that you worked with so we can put faces to the names. It is very inspiring to read that when faced with a challenge, your group worked through the problem. 😊
